Flowers, flowers everywhere!!!

Monday, June 8, 2009

I think this is my favorite cake yet!!! It's a chocolate 8" cake with buttercream icing. I tinted the buttercream a light green (this really seemed to help the flowers pop). Everything else is made from fondant (not as much gum tex this time!). There are flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, and even a couple of ladybugs!

Pink and Purple Flowers for Kaylee

I did this cake for my friend Amanda's little girl Kaylee. It's a double fudge cake with butter cream icing and pink and purple fondant flowers. She really wanted a tiered cake, but there weren't going to be a lot of people at the party, so I did small layers on it. The bottom is one 8" cake cut in half to make two layers and the top is a 6" also cut in half. The cake turned out great, but I added a little too much gum tex to my fondant. The held up great, but didn't taste as good as usual!

Flower Garden Mother's Day Cake

Thursday, May 14, 2009

This was Mom and Gram's Mother's Day cake. It's a red velevet cake with cream cheese icing. The flowers are fondant cut with cookie cutters, and the grass and stems are hand cut. The butterflies and dragonfly were made with a mold, as are some of the smaller flowers. I love the colorful look of the cake! It was so much fun to make!!!

My first flip flop cake

Monday, April 6, 2009

I know, it's been forever since I've written on here. Things have been busy, and the few cakes that I've made I forgot to take pictures of, sorry! I made this cake for a lady at work, if for some reason the picture isn't showing it's a zebra print flip flop cake. It's a yellow cake with butter cream icing. I made the stripes from homemade black fondant, made with chocolate to make it take the black color easier. The straps are red twizlers. I had so much fun making this one!!!

Christmas Dog Bones

Thursday, January 8, 2009

I know it's been forever since I've posted, but with all my doctor's appointments and everything going on, I just haven't felt like baking much! I did make homemade dog bones for all of my family and friend's babies. They're so easy to make, I added parsley and mint to help with bad breath. They also have a little garlic in them to help repel fleas. Millie and Toby love them (and Toby's a picky eater). I colored them in red and green and cut them in cute shapes for Christmas.
